Axelrod and Company Should Stick to Positive Messages

ShortFormContent at Blogger: Just 10% of the people own the United States of America:

'via Blog this'

Axelrod is calling Gingrich names. Boring and unnecessary. The Democrats should follow the President who says the difference between him and the GOP is night and day. Fairness and a responsibly sustainable economy with employment increasing incrementally should do the job. No hissy fits please. Just smart use of campaign resources to hit these positive hot buttons. Ignoring these bozos will make them even more mad than they are already. If Democrats and the progressive blogosphere had followed the President all along, we would be farther ahead.

Just 10% of the people own the United States of America

Who Rules America: Wealth, Income, and Power: "In terms of types of financial wealth, the top one percent of households have 38.3% of all privately held stock, 60.6% of financial securities, and 62.4% of business equity. The top 10% have 80% to 90% of stocks, bonds, trust funds, and business equity, and over 75% of non-home real estate. Since financial wealth is what counts as far as the control of income-producing assets, we can say that just 10% of the people own the United States of America."

If we can merely press home fairness, the battle will at least be partly won. It will be more won when we have a Constitutional Amendment that takes money out of politics and removes the false premises of Citizen's United. And it will be fully won when the economy rebounds because we have gone beyond the superficialities of green to the profitable precincts of a reformed and remade society that venerates tolerance, democracy, helpfulness and non-idolatry.

This will of course be merely a preliminary battle. The biggest battle we face is how we can actually live if the biggest causes of potential doom are removed.

All "The Grass Roots Church" Is Up Online and Free

The Grass Roots Church: "Even if there were no unrest within the seminaries, on the campuses, among both the ministry and the laity, even if the outsider's case against church attendance is discounted, the imperative for Protestant renewal would remain. For in the final analysis the Church must be obedient not to human desires but to the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

From one of the Web's most insightful sites

Per Caritatem: "Through a re-telling of his own experiences of racism, Fanon is able to show how a black person in a racialized context eventually internalizes the ‘white gaze’. In this essay I bring Fanon’s insights into conversation with Foucault’s discussion of panoptic surveillance. Although the internalization of the white narrative creates a situation in which external constraints are no longer needed, Fanon highlights both the historical contingency of ‘blackness’ and the ways in which the oppressed can re-narrate their subjectivities. Lastly, I discuss Fanon’s historically attuned ‘new humanism’, once again engaging Fanon and Foucault as dialogue partners."

Is Occupy Triadic I Think So

ShortFormContent at Blogger: From binary to triadic perception and creativity:

'via Blog this'

The reason is the binary inevitably breeds conflict that breeds violence.

The triadic breeds a third - a blend of first and second that creates something beyond. This is where the seed of nonviolence melds with dissatisfaction to create endless invention in tune with the continuity of everything.

The worst thing's to despair of life itself

The worst thing's to despair of life itself
As long as we have breath
And consciousness
Despair we feel but then move on
Been there done that come sing a song
The worst is past
A child's eye opens somewhere
Let us go
Let go
Move on

Cars and houses and uncertainty

Retail sales disappoint - Dec. 13, 2011: "The disappointing numbers do not bode well for retailers that depend on strong holiday sales -- despite a recent wave of optimism in the industry."

'via Blog this'

Cars are not being bought because we have not yet answered the question of the future of the car. Goods for house living are not being bought because we are confused about the current realities of real estate and the future of sprawl society as we know it. These are formidable confusions that segue with a growing awareness that the deck is stacked - along with what seems systemic unemployment we have income stagnation or recession as the political system struggles to rid itself of the dominant influences - all of which support the car, sprawl and inequality. Does that do it for you? It should create the slight hint of an agenda.

How about endangering ongoing freedoms

FBI rejects FOIA request for Carrier IQ info - Computerworld:

The FBI says ongoing investigations excuse the lack of transparency. This is chicken and egg logic. These days, with the Court we have and its recent record, all rights are endangered.

It also induces horrendous politics

Alcohol induces us to have unsafe sex - Times Of India: ""Drinking has a causal effect on the likelihood to engage in unsafe sex, and thus should be included as a major factor in preventive efforts for HIV," noted Dr. J. Rehm, the Principal Investigator of the study.

"This result also helps explain why people at risk often show this behaviour despite better knowledge: alcohol is influencing their decision processes," he added."

There's a little Higgs boson in everyone.

BBC News - LHC: Higgs boson 'may have been glimpsed':

'via Blog this'

The science is this IMO. The only identity that has been vouchsafed to us is not something that can be named. Oh we can name it if we like. Higgs boson. is fine. But it avails not. Why? Because the One who is the One lives and moves and is indeed life itself no less mysterious that what/who we know ourselves to be. There's a little Higgs boson in everyone. Jesus suggested we call him Abba.

Is there something wrong with this? I had enough trouble reckoning with recognition when I was in my 20s. Now here's a kid who must reckon with it at 12. If he is truly impossible to guard, I hope that capacity extends to his psyche.

From A Quora Discussion of Starting Again After A Failure

(2) How soon after a venture fails should you get back on the horse? - Quora: "In a general sense failure is the norm. Since everything is experimental and continual and chronological, success- while real according to some benchmarks - is a temporary state on the way to the next chapter in the continuity we all share. If this sounds philosophical, it is. Good pragmaticist insight derived from Charles Sanders Peirce"
